“One of the reasons I love Saint James is all of the opportunities I get to challenge myself to reaching my goals of becoming a surgeon. Another thing I love about Saint James is the diversity of our community, how many cultures we have here, and yet we are still one big family. Saint James means so much to all of us who are lucky enough to go here.”

From our very first visit to Saint James, our interactions with the administrators and teachers, we felt like Saint James chose us.

There were four things we were really looking for when choosing a school. Obviously, academic excellence, well-rounded character development, and commitment to service, and inclusion and diversity. And Saint James had all of them, and there was no question the priority that Saint James put on all four. So, it was an easy decision for us.”

“When I signed up for Photography I during my sophomore year, I had no idea how much fun I would have learning about and creating art through taking pictures. I simply took the class as an elective and had no plans to continue after that year. My photography teacher Mrs. Shoults sparked my passion for photography. She made the class interesting through the variety of our assigned projects. She introduced multiple techniques and encouraged creativity in photo shoots. Once I realized how much I enjoyed it, I signed up for Photography II for my Junior year, and then AP 2d Design my senior year. One of the goals I developed was to create photo art that would be interesting for people to look at. Mrs. Shoults has helped me develop and strengthen my talent. She also gave me tips on how to identify my best photographs. I appreciate her support as she entered my photos into competitions, some of which have resulted in awards. This further strengthened my confidence. I am also appreciative of the support of Saint James School for recognizing its student art award winners through social media announcements, emails, and such. Without the support of Mrs. Shoults and the school, I don’t think I would have reached my artistic goals in my photography classes.”

“Saint James School has given me so many opportunities that challenged me both academically and athletically. My coaches encouraged me daily to excel in the classroom. That encouragement helped me know that they cared about me as a student first, then as an athlete. There must be a balance. They further helped my team members by promoting us and supporting our athletic achievements, but most importantly they helped mold us as people.”

“As a new George Washington University graduate, I felt STJ could not have prepared me any better for college. Going to a completely different city and university that constantly challenged me to do more, it often felt overwhelming. However, STJ helped in some of the most essential ways. One thing that I was adequately prepared academically for was my classes. At STJ, I also learned how to manage my time and contribute meaningfully to my work and electives through doing forensics, cross country, student ambassador, and tennis in high school. I attribute much of my success and all I’ve been able to do through my amazing teachers, faculty, and coaches who never doubted me yet always pushed me to be better. I am excited to now serve as a Policy Coordinator for the National Association of  Manufacturers in Washington. Without the high expectations of STJ and all of its wonderful experiences, I would not be where I am today.”
