Our Elementary School
At Saint James School, we believe in educating the whole child. We recognize that all students come to us with a variety of talents and strengths, and we actively seek ways to develop those abilities daily through our rigorous, yet appropriate curriculum.
The elementary curriculum is challenging, while being intellectually and developmentally appropriate. Dedicated, nurturing teachers are committed to providing our students with the finest educational opportunities. Each classroom in the elementary school has access to developmentally appropriate technology which is meaningfully implemented into the curriculum to provide a deeper experience with various skills learned in the classroom.
Our Pre-K2, Pre-K3, and Pre-K4 programs are rooted in a strong foundation of literacy and numeracy skills that students need for success in science, reading, and mathematics. Students in our preschool program are exposed daily to a rich classroom environment filled with opportunities for them to grow in every aspect of their personal, social, emotional, and academic growth.

Helping Your Kids Grow
The Kindergarten year is a time in which children mature at a tremendous rate. At Saint James, we encourage this growth in independence through providing various experiences to practice and learn new skills. Our Kindergarten reading curriculum provides a balanced approach to teaching phonetic awareness and whole language. Our students continue to master basic mathematical skills while being challenged to develop a deeper understanding of numbers.
Through fifth grade, our elementary students are encouraged daily to extend their learning through the implementation of science, history, and geography into their studies. We place a strong emphasis on the arts and facets of this concept are woven seamlessly into nearly every course of study in the elementary school to peak children’s various interests and to stimulate individual learning styles. Students in third-fifth grades participate in our 1:1 iPad program. We believe strongly in incorporating 21st century skills of collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and creativity into every aspect of learning in our elementary school.
