College Advising in Montgomery
At Saint James School, college advising is a thoughtful, student-centered process designed to support each high school student as they navigate an increasingly complex college admissions landscape. Our academic advising program partners with students and families to ensure informed decisions that align with academic goals, career aspirations, and personal interests.
Beginning early in high school, students work closely with a dedicated academic advisor who serves as a mentor, coach, and advocate throughout their educational journey. By emphasizing intellectual curiosity, self-reflection, and long-term planning, our college advising program helps students develop clarity, confidence, and a competitive edge as they prepare for higher education.

Our advisors serve as a trusted resource for families, offering clarity, encouragement, and guidance as students make meaningful decisions about their future. This collaborative approach helps students feel supported while learning to take ownership of their educational journey.

High school students begin a more in-depth process through individual meetings, college programming, and university representative visits.

One of the missions of Saint James is to build up each child from the inside out. From there the Director of College Advising can help guide students towards majors that align with these skills and interests.
Families are a crucial piece of the college advising process. We believe the students should be in the driver’s seat, with the parents serving as supportive passengers along the way. Our goal is to empower both the students and parents to understand their role and how to navigate the process together.
A comprehensive full-year college advising programming schedule is created to expand opportunities for students to learn more about the college admissions process beyond the application.
